About Chip
Chip Harris lives in northwest Colorado giving natural horsemanship clinics and lessons around the western states. It was eleven years ago in 1995 that Chip Harris began his journey into the world of natural horsemanship by attending his first six-day clinic with Pat and Linda Parelli. He knew after the first half hour of the first day that he wanted to become a Parelli instructor and voiced his interest to Pat and Linda that week. Within one and a half years he achieved, his level two certification at the Parelli Colorado International Study Center. He then qualified to become a student instructor in the summer of 1997, two and a half years after entering the Parelli program. Ultimately he achieved his level three certification and approved instructor status only four years, four months and eighteen days after his first meeting with Pat and Linda Parelli. All of Chip's formal training and levels assessments were achieved with personal instruction from Pat or Linda Parelli.
He continued his education with the Parelli program through instructor intensive courses, professional conferences, colt starting classes, numerous clinics and Parelli Savvy conferences. As a member of the Savvy Club, Chip has performed numerous opening demonstrations for Pat and Linda Parelli to crowds of thousands. He also performed opening demonstrations for Olympic gold medal legends David and Karen O'Connor and reigning horse legend Craig Johnson.
Chip Harris retired his endorsement with Parelli Natural Horsemanship as a two-star rated instructor, with star ratings in colt starting and foundation training, in 2004 after seven years as an instructor. Since then, he has focused on developing his own training facility and expanding his breeding program. Today he continues to produce clinics, give lessons, and start colts in natural horsemanship both in Colorado and around the western states.
While there are many qualified horseman around, Chip Harris is truly exceptional in that he not only has proven horse skills but he also has excellent people skills. He is a dynamic, motivational and empathetic teacher. Chip Harris is completely enthusiastic about what he does and it's very contagious. As one student told him after her week long clinic, "This was a life changing experience".
Few of the clinicians and trainers out there today have the broad depth of formal horse related education that Chip Harris has acquired in his horsemanship journey. He has studied not only horsemanship, but foal imprinting [Dr.R.M. Miller], colt starting, foundation training, difficult horses, balanced riding and natural horse shoeing [Bergy Bergaleen]. Chip has also completed extended studies from some of the top educators in their fields in equine nutrition, saddle fitting [Jeremiah Watt], driving, phototonic light therapy [Brian McLaren], and the middle eastern elements [Glenn Braddy].
Students of the horse, you have only to listen and the horse will teach you. And Chip Harris will guide you.
