The Star-K Training Center
The Star-K Natural Horse Training Center is dedicated to the natural training and development of horses. It was built and developed with that thought in mind. It is also the home of Chip Harris and Harris Horsemanship, the natural horsemanship people. The Center offers fantastic panoramic views of the continental divide, two national wildernesses and the Steamboat Springs ski area with abundant wildlife and all the beautiful Rocky Mountain peaks in between.
When Chip Harris, a retired 7 year Parelli Natural horsemanship clinician and instructor, trail riding and horse packing enthusiast, was in the planning stages of the Star-K Center he asked himself what would he want to have in an ideal Rocky Mountain natural horse training center? His list of answers read something like this. Enough flat ground to build a 55 foot round corral, a 100 foot round corral, a 22,500 square foot riding arena, a horse barn with hay storage, tack room and commercial grade stalls with secure outdoor runs, and an obstacle course area with a wood horse training bridge. You know, the kind of terrain that might have a couple seasonal springs and maybe a couple seasonal creeks, abundant aspen and gambrel oak trees. Rocky hillsides for national forest style trail riding obstacles. All in a private setting, and so forth, anyway you get the idea. A center that would boast the most natural horse training environment and habitat for which you could hope, horse heaven on earth.
Well, let me tell you what, it's all here at the Star-K Natural Horse Training Center seventeen miles north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
